What to do

  1. 1

    Name the institution and location

Separate a bank, specialized financial institution, government office and private organization before choosing a calendar.

  2. 2

    Check the responsible holiday source

Use BOT for financial institutions and the responsible government or agency notice for a public-office or special-holiday question.

  3. 3

Read the scope, not only the date

Preserve the geography and institution categories because a special holiday can be limited rather than nationwide.

  4. 4

    Confirm the selected location

Use the exact branch or office's official channel and keep unresolved hours visibly unknown when sources conflict.

Identify the institution before checking the date

Write down the exact organization, branch or office, location and intended date. A bank visit, Immigration appointment, district-office task and private-company errand do not share one universal holiday source, even when the same date is described informally as a Thai public holiday.

Keep the task itself separate from the calendar check. A holiday page can help decide whether to confirm or move a visit, but it does not establish document requirements, queue access, appointment status, service eligibility or approval for the underlying transaction.

Use BOT for financial-institution holidays

For a bank or specialized financial institution, open the Bank of Thailand's current Financial Institutions Holiday page and choose the relevant year. Read the scope attached to the list instead of copying dates from a travel blog, an old image or another year's calendar.

BOT's page is authoritative for the financial-institution holiday category it names. It is not evidence that every exchange counter, ATM, private office, shop or government service follows the same closure pattern, and it does not establish the hours of a selected Pattaya branch.

Read the geographic scope of special notices

The Royal Thai Government's 2026 notice demonstrates that a special public holiday can be limited to Bangkok. The same notice distinguishes government operations from decisions requested of state enterprises, financial institutions, educational institutions and private-sector entities near the event area.

That example is useful because it prevents a nationwide assumption. It must not be reused as a Pattaya closure notice or static annual calendar. For another special date, open the current notice and preserve its place, institution type and operational wording exactly.

Confirm the exact branch or office

After checking the correct authority calendar, use the selected institution's official branch or office channel to confirm whether the location will open, close, change hours, move an appointment or provide an online alternative. Record the date and channel of that confirmation.

A map listing, search snippet or crowd-edited hours panel is not the final authority for a holiday exception. If official channels conflict, leave the operating state unknown and avoid a wasted journey rather than choosing the more convenient answer.

Plan a fallback without inventing availability

Move a time-sensitive task earlier when the responsible source confirms a closure or leaves too little certainty. Keep required documents and appointment evidence ready, and check whether the institution itself identifies a supported online route or a different operating location.

Do not assume an ATM, app, alternate branch or government portal will solve the same task. The related guides explain separate banking and Immigration decisions, but each service still needs its own current eligibility, maintenance and operating check.
