Key facts
Detailed explanation5 short sections
Start with the official live checker
Open the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Thai e-Visa service and use its visa-need check for the actual trip. Enter the travel document or passport details and planned stay information requested by the service rather than starting from a copied list on another website.
The tool is the route to a current, input-specific result. This page cannot run it for the reader or preserve its result. A different passport, travel document, purpose or plan may lead to a different official path, so keep the output attached to the details entered.
Do not turn an older list into an entitlement
The MFA country-list page was updated in March 2026. A later MFA notice in May said a visa-exemption revision still required Royal Gazette publication and an effective date. The two pages therefore cannot be flattened into a static country table here.
This answer publishes no nationality list, permitted-stay number or claim that a named passport is exempt. It also does not average, choose between or silently combine the two official pages. Use the current checker and any final current MFA or Gazette instruction shown for the travel date.
Keep the exact inputs with the result
Save the travel document used, the planned purpose and stay details, the check date and the official result or next action displayed. If the result directs the traveler to an application process, follow that official process rather than treating the checker screen as an issued visa or entry approval.
When the tool and another MFA page appear inconsistent, stop and ask the responsible MFA or consular channel to clarify the current rule for the exact document. Do not substitute an airline message, forum answer or another traveler's experience for the responsible authority.
Separate visa checks from other travel tasks
Visa or exemption eligibility is separate from the Thailand Digital Arrival Card. A result in the e-Visa service does not complete TDAC, and a completed TDAC does not decide visa eligibility. Follow the dedicated TDAC guide as the next distinct arrival task when it applies.
Re-entry permits, 90-day reporting and cash declarations also answer different decisions. Do not use this pre-trip checker as a replacement for an existing Thai status record, a re-entry question, a reporting duty or Customs requirements.
Recheck immediately before travel
Because the official policy record was moving after the listed country page, repeat the MFA check close to travel and whenever the itinerary or document changes. Record the fresh result instead of relying on a screenshot or article from an earlier policy state.
The checker and official pages do not guarantee admission. Border decisions, document inspection and individual circumstances remain outside this general source-selection guide. For a complex status or legal question, use the responsible authority or qualified advice rather than treating this page as a ruling.
