Get the list for the exact reservation

Ask the company or booking branch for the documents that apply to the selected vehicle, rate and pickup location. Keep the reply with the reservation rather than relying on a generic checklist copied from another operator.

Confirm requirements for the main driver and every additional driver. A person who may drive later still needs to meet the company's written conditions and the separate legal driving-entitlement check. Do not assume that being named on the booking is enough.

Use Avis requirements only as an Avis example

Avis currently says a foreign renter should present an original valid passport, an original valid Thai or international driving licence and a credit card in the renter's name. Its materials also apply document checks to additional drivers.

Preserve the words original, valid and same name when checking an Avis booking. Do not turn them into a statement about every Pattaya rental company. A photograph or scan may be useful backup, but the cited operator material does not say it replaces the required original at handover.

Read Drive's language and card conditions carefully

Drive's English terms publish identification or passport, valid-licence, language or translation and same-name credit-card conditions. Those details show why the handover list should be checked before travel rather than discovered at the counter.

The current English and Thai pages disagree on at least the displayed minimum age and some financial terms. This answer therefore does not reproduce an age, deposit or other threshold. Ask which version governs the exact booking and obtain the applicable value in writing.

Keep company acceptance and legal entitlement separate

A complete document pack can satisfy a rental company's desk process without answering whether the driver holds the correct legal entitlement for the vehicle. Check the Thai authority layer first, then the company layer, and make sure both refer to the same driver and vehicle class.

If a call-center answer conflicts with the written reservation or another language version, pause and ask the operator to identify the controlling terms. Keep the dated confirmation. This page does not decide a contract dispute or authorize a missing document; it exposes what needs resolving before pickup.
