What to do

  1. 1

    Open the official channel

Use the app obtained through the Tourist Police website or call 1155 when app access is unavailable.

  2. 2

    State the immediate need

Give the location, situation and language needed, then follow the official operator's direction for the appropriate response.

  3. 3

    Ask about the formal record

If another process requires a police report or case number, confirm the separate local reporting step instead of treating the app contact as proof.

Choose the app for tourist-focused help

The Tourist Police Bureau presents its official application as a way to request immediate assistance, obtain translation services and ask about attractions or current tourism information. That makes it a useful tourist-facing channel when language or unfamiliarity with local agencies is part of the problem.

Install it only through the official links reached from the Tourist Police website. The source does not establish device compatibility, permission requirements, location accuracy or service quality for a particular phone. Keep another way to call for help rather than depending on one application and one data connection.

Use SOS or 1155 for the right situation

The Tourist Police's January 2026 post identifies an SOS button in the application. It also says hotline 1155 is available in eight languages, 24 hours a day. Those are official access claims, not promises that every incident will receive the same response or that an officer will arrive within a set time.

If speaking is possible and the application is unavailable, 1155 is the direct Tourist Police alternative. Give the location, a concise description of what happened, whether anyone is injured or in immediate danger, and the language needed. The evidence does not say the caller must use the app before calling.

Keep emergency channels separate

The official homepage separately lists police, fire/rescue and emergency-medical contacts. That separation matters. During immediate danger, fire, a serious crash or a medical emergency, use the appropriate emergency channel rather than assuming a tourist-information function will replace it.

Do not delay urgent help while collecting screenshots, translating a long narrative or testing every app feature. The app may assist communication, but the reviewed sources do not state that it dispatches every emergency service or establishes priority over the direct emergency number.

Confirm whether a formal report is still needed

An app conversation or SOS request is not evidence in this source set that a formal report was registered at the responsible local police station. If an insurer, embassy, bank, transport operator or lost-property process needs a report or reference number, ask the receiving officer which formal record is required and where it must be made.

Save any case or contact reference the service provides, but do not publish personal details or accuse an identified person online. This route explains channel choice only. It does not determine criminal classification, jurisdiction, evidence sufficiency or the outcome of a complaint.
