What to do

  1. 1

    Copy the recipient-confirmed address

Obtain the complete current address from the person or property that will receive the item, including any unit information it requires.

  2. 2

    Check every administrative component

Keep the subdistrict, district, province and five-digit postcode aligned with the exact premises and include Moo where the local address uses it.

  3. 3

Verify and format the final block

Confirm the postcode in Thailand Post's lookup and add THAILAND as the last line for an international item.

Before you go

Avoid

  • Using a tourist-area or building nickname as if it were the complete postal address.
  • Assuming every property marketed as Pattaya uses the same postcode.
  • Treating a postal format as proof that a reception desk or private courier will accept the item.
Detailed explanation4 short sections

Start with the recipient's exact address

Ask the person, hotel, condominium office, landlord or business receiving the item to copy the exact address it currently uses for post. Keep the addressee name connected to that address. A building nickname, booking-platform label or dropped map pin does not supply every postal component and can point to a different entrance or locality.

For a condominium or hotel, also ask whether a room or unit number and a recipient telephone number are needed for its own handoff. Those may be operational delivery details, but the UPU format sheet does not prove that a particular reception will accept, store or notify someone about an item.

Keep the Thai administrative parts together

The UPU Thailand addressing sheet shows the addressee, premises or thoroughfare information, subdistrict, district, province and a five-digit postcode as address components. Rural formats may include a `Moo` number. Use the components supplied for the exact property rather than substituting a more familiar tourist-area name.

Romanized spellings can vary, especially where Thai names appear in several English forms. Do not 'correct' a recipient-confirmed locality only because a map service spells it differently. The postcode and administrative levels matter more than forcing one unofficial transliteration from memory.

Verify the five-digit postcode

Use Thailand Post's official postcode search for the exact locality. Do not state that all of Pattaya uses one postcode: properties described commercially as Pattaya can sit in different subdistrict, district or postal-service areas. Match the result back to the address supplied by the recipient.

If the lookup requires Thai text, ask the recipient or property for its Thai address line rather than guessing a transliteration. A successful postcode result still does not verify the room number, person, building reception policy or private-courier instructions. Those remain separate confirmations.

Format mail coming from another country

The UPU examples use a left-aligned block and place the destination country on the final line for international mail. Keep `THAILAND` as the country line rather than mixing it into the province/postcode line. Preserve the locally confirmed component order above it.

This route is for a property or business postal address. Thailand Post counter collection has its own selected-branch format and conditions, while private couriers can request different telephone, landmark or contact fields. Do not convert this postal template into a guarantee for every carrier.
